I have had many ups and downs (literally) on my weight loss journey. Rather than riding a roller coaster of weight loss, I would like to transfer to the weight loss train. I was at a Weight Watchers meeting a few years ago where they refered to our weight loss as a train ride. Instead of grumbling about the need to lose weight, and how others we might know can eat whatever they want and not gain a pound, realize that it is what it is, and if we are going to be on this journey then we might as well enjoy the ride. The thought really stuck with me. A positive outlook definitely helps in just getting on the train.
My goal is to lose 115 pounds. I have found that a combination of Weight Watchers and exercise is the ticket for me. Several years ago I was struggling to get the weight off. I hadn't been able to get pregnant and thought my weight had a lot to do with that. My sister had a friend who was working on becoming a yoga instructor and needed to do a few classes to get the cerification. I went to the classes and absolutely loved it. It was gentle enough that I could do it in my overweight condition, but also helped me build strength and flexability. In general, it got me moving and into an exercise habit again. For my birthday that year I bought myself a couple of yoga videos and a yoga mat. Once I had lost about 12 pounds I went to Weight Watchers, and my weight loss really took off. That was the end of March, and by the beginning of December I had lost 70 pounds, and I just found out I was pregnant with my first child. I had about 25 pounds to go to get to my goal weight, but I was looking pretty good. I went on to have 3 babies in about that many years, and it has definitely taken a toll on my figure. By the time each of my babies was 9 months old, I was pregnant again. Now my baby is 15 months old, and as much as I would like to have another baby (the clock is ticking), I need to get the weight off to have a healthy pregnancy, and to just be a healthy mother in general.
Although I am not exactly ready to share my current weight, I will share how much I am losing each week. My goal is to lose 115 pounds. I have been going to Weight Watchers for a few weeks, but I feel like my mind is finally in a place to get somewhere. This last week I feel I got it together and lost 2.6 pounds. I have a long journey ahead of me, but I know I can do it.
Here are the details of my goal:
GOAL: To lose 115 pounds
Monthly Goal: 10 pounds per month
Giving myself a little bit of cushion, I hope to be at my Goal Weight by September of 2012. I would like to lose at least 2.5 pounds per week. I know at the beginning, this number will probably be higher, but as I get closer to my goal, this will get a little more challenging.
Weight loss last week: 2.6 pounds
Pounds to go: 112.4
This week's goal: Lose 3 pounds
