Week 11 - December 1st
I was worried about my weigh in today, because it is the weigh in after the Thanksgiving holiday. Not only was it Thanksgiving, but I was also out of town for Thanksgiving. Double whammy. I am pleased to report that I lost 3.2 pounds!! Yipee!!!!!! After feeling a little discouraged, I was very happy to have lost weight, and to have been so successful during vacation. I feel like I am definitely in my exercise groove. I am grateful to my sister who inspires me to workout, even when on vacation. I had a wonderful time with her Thanksgiving day doing Bob Harper's "Yoga for the Warrior" and also taking an after dinner walk with the babies. Thank you, Betsy, for your wonderful example. You go girl!! You are doing amazing, and I am so proud of you!!

Week 9 - The Cardinal Rule
Well, I am disappointed in myself this week. I broke my two cardinal rules of weight loss weigh ins. The day before your way in, you definitely do not eat late at night. You eat a reasonable dinner within your daily allowance at a reasonable dinner hour. No late night dinners or snacks. Rule number 2 is that you eat a light breakfast of say, cereal, and then definitely a light lunch. After lunch, no eating or drinking until after you weigh in. I much preferred when I lived in Utah and my weigh in meeting was in the morning. Now that I weigh in at 6pm, I have to watch what I eat and drink all weigh in day. Well, last night I blew it and had dinner way too late. I hadn't eaten much during the day, and so I had a lot of points left, but didn't get to eat dinner until after we got back from a church activity. When I got up yesterday morning I had lost 3 pounds so far this week. When I weighed in at Weight Watchers tonight, I only lost .4. Very disappointing. Especially after gaining .2 last week. The good news is that if I stay on track, next week will be very good. But it is the week of Thanksgiving. I am determined to lose weight through this holiday even though we will be traveling. I know I can do it. I just need to keep my exercising up even if I'm out of town. Today I was a little crazy with exercising. I did my step aerobics in the morning and then late afternoon I did a crazy new dvd workout video by Bob Harper. My dear svester introduced me to it, and it is called Yoga for the Warrior. Wow, it is a toughie. Today was the second time I had done it. The first time I did it, I wasn't sure if I could ever choose, of my own free will, to put it back in the dvd player and do it again, but I am glad I did. I could tell that even after one workout, that I was a little bit stronger than I was two days ago when I first did it. I will be doing it again.
Weigh lost this week: .4 lbs.
Total weight lost so far: 8.8 lbs.
Weight still to lose: 106.2
Goal this week: To lose any amount of weight even though it's Thanksgiving (but hopefully I'll be down 2 pounds)

11-9-11
Three days this week so far, and I have exercised every one of them. I am glad to know that even when I slip up on what I am eating, that if I keep up the exercise, I am still moving toward a healthier life. One of my regrets is letting days, weeks, and months pass where I did not really & truly work on losing weight and becoming healthier. You know, when you say to yourself, by the time my next vacation comes, I want to be down 20 pounds, or by summer I want to be in such and such a size of clothes. Almost inevitably that event rolls by and you are still where you were months before. I guess what I am saying is that I want to seize every moment I have. We hadn't been able to have children for the first 7 years we were married. I believe that was due to my weight. It is ridiculous to me that I lost those 7 years because of food that I ate and not exercising. I would not trade a single one of my now three children for a single morsel or the whole load of food I ate those seven years. Now that I am looking at wanting to get pregnant again, but knowing I need to wait until my weight is at a more managable level for a healthy pregnancy, I want to make sure that I am not wasting a single minute, hour, day, week....

Week 7 - Yippee!
Well, another week, another weigh in. I am happy to say that even though it was Halloween this week, I was still able to lose 2.4 pounds. I have had a cold that is threatening to take over me for the last couple of days, so it has been difficult to get up in the morning and exercise. Yesterday I missed exercising, but because to today was weigh in day I had to make sure I got it in. I dropped T off at dance and had a small window of opportunity to get my step aerobics in. I am glad to say that I did it, and it definitely paid off for the weigh in.
Weight lost this week: 2.4 pounds
Total weight lost: 8.6
Weight still to lose: 106.4
Goal this week: To lose 2.5 pounds

Week 6
Tonight was weigh-in night. Good News!! I lost .6 pounds. I am so glad that coming back from vacation I was still able to lose some. Today was the second day of step aerobics, and I love it. The other thing I love is that my kids want to exercise too. T & E thought it looked like a lot of fun. Everytime T finds out that I have exerised, whether it is aerobics or yoga, she begs to do it too. I hope she continues to have this desire throughout her life. The other good thing about today, is it was probably the first day since starting this new journey that I stayed completely within my Weight Watcher points, and I tracked the entire day. Usually I am super good about this in the morning, and even through lunch, but by afternoon and evening, I slack when things get hectic with dinner and the family. Yahoo for little baby steps of success!
Here's how things stand:
Weight lost this week: .6 lbs.
Total weight lost: 6.2 lbs.
Weight still to lose: 108.8
This week's goal: Lose 3 lbs.

10-26-11
Well, I survived my ten day trip to Utah. I am happy to say that did not gain all my weight back while I was gone. I wish I could say I didn't gain any, but I did gain a pound or two. I am happy to report that I am back on the exercise wagon though. This morning was the first morning since moving to Texas that I did my step aerobics, and it felt amazing! It is a total old school 90's Kathy Smith step workout, and I love it. I have probably done this particular workout video over 300 times. Whenever I do it, I feel like I'm home. I know that probably sounds corny, but I absolutely love it. I do try to diversify a bit, but this video (now I found it on DVD) it definitely my go to workout. Hopefully I can lose the pound or so I gained on vacation before I weigh in on Thursday.

Week 3 Weigh In
As I suspected, it was not such a good week on the scale. I need to be a bit more dilligent on tracking what I eat. I think for me, portion control is the hardest part. I need to remember that food is to fuel my body, and just because it tastes good doesn't mean I get to eat as much as I want.
Weight gained this week: 2.2 lbs.
Total Weight lost: 5.6
Weight still to lose: 109.4
I just need to get myself over the bump in the road I keep hitting that sets me back. This is the week to do it!!

10-5-11
Today I got back to my yoga. I did yoga every weekday last week, and I had a great weight loss week. This week, I haven't been as careful tracking what I ate, and I wasn't as dilligent in getting my exercise in. I know for me that exercise is crucial to my weight loss. I know that my weight loss (or lack of it) will be affected by it. The good news is I feel like I am on the exercise train again, and even though I will probably have a gain at tomorrow's weigh in, I will be on my way to a loss for the next week. I am a work in process.

10-4-11
Yesterday I clocked the mileage of a mile and a half loop in our neighborhood. After I took T & B to school, I took E in the stroller and walked that loop. I hope to improve on my time, considering it took me almost 30 minutes to walk a mile and a half. Although I wasn't taking just a leisurely stroll, I also didn't speed walk the whole time either. I much prefer to run since I get shin splints when I walk for exercise, but at this time, I will have to stick with walking until I get a few more pounds off.

Successful Week!! - Week 2
This last week was a great, great week for me. On Thurday I weighed in at Weight Watchers and found out that I lost 5.2 lbs. Woohoo!!!
Total weight lost: 7.8 lbs.
Weight still to lose: 107.2
Staying motivated sometimes can be a difficult thing. As my weight loss progresses, I find that some weeks I am a little more motivated that other weeks. I also find that with a busy schedule I find it a little harder to make good choices. Wish me luck for this week. It's been a crazy weekend, so it is time to focus again for the upcoming weigh in.

The Beginning - Week 1
I have had many ups and downs (literally) on my weight loss journey. Rather than riding a roller coaster of weight loss, I would like to transfer to the weight loss train. I was at a Weight Watchers meeting a few years ago where they refered to our weight loss as a train ride. Instead of grumbling about the need to lose weight, and how others we might know can eat whatever they want and not gain a pound, realize that it is what it is, and if we are going to be on this journey then we might as well enjoy the ride. The thought really stuck with me. A positive outlook definitely helps in just getting on the train.
My goal is to lose 115 pounds. I have found that a combination of Weight Watchers and exercise is the ticket for me. Several years ago I was struggling to get the weight off. I hadn't been able to get pregnant and thought my weight had a lot to do with that. My sister had a friend who was working on becoming a yoga instructor and needed to do a few classes to get the cerification. I went to the classes and absolutely loved it. It was gentle enough that I could do it in my overweight condition, but also helped me build strength and flexability. In general, it got me moving and into an exercise habit again. For my birthday that year I bought myself a couple of yoga videos and a yoga mat. Once I had lost about 12 pounds I went to Weight Watchers, and my weight loss really took off. That was the end of March, and by the beginning of December I had lost 70 pounds, and I just found out I was pregnant with my first child. I had about 25 pounds to go to get to my goal weight, but I was looking pretty good. I went on to have 3 babies in about that many years, and it has definitely taken a toll on my figure. By the time each of my babies was 9 months old, I was pregnant again. Now my baby is 15 months old, and as much as I would like to have another baby (the clock is ticking), I need to get the weight off to have a healthy pregnancy, and to just be a healthy mother in general.
Although I am not exactly ready to share my current weight, I will share how much I am losing each week. My goal is to lose 115 pounds. I have been going to Weight Watchers for a few weeks, but I feel like my mind is finally in a place to get somewhere. This last week I feel I got it together and lost 2.6 pounds. I have a long journey ahead of me, but I know I can do it.
Here are the details of my goal:
GOAL: To lose 115 pounds
Monthly Goal: 10 pounds per month
Giving myself a little bit of cushion, I hope to be at my Goal Weight by September of 2012. I would like to lose at least 2.5 pounds per week. I know at the beginning, this number will probably be higher, but as I get closer to my goal, this will get a little more challenging.
Weight loss last week: 2.6 pounds
Pounds to go: 112.4
This week's goal: Lose 3 pounds
